Lets begin (again)

Thought I should get back on here since I’ve started to do some new things and branch out a bit. I tried Gaelic singing lessons on a Sunday night with the most amazing Norrie McIver – honestly what a great teacher. I loved learning about the history of the songs as well and even the language differences between the islands (Benbecula rules )   Did I feel like Joey from Friends at times sure as heck I did lol but it was just something different and fun to do.

Next I signed up for Write Nights my lovely friend Julie Dryborough has been doing them for ages and so I took the plunge – I hate writing – I have dyslexic tendencies (only discovered that a few years ago explains why I found writing so hard all these years. So the point of write nights is simply to get together online in a group and Jools gives us a starter and away we go for 20 mins (we do a warmup saying hello to our page just for a couple of minutes I like that just chatting to my notebook its quite fun and doesn’t get annoyed if I spell things wrong either ) after we have done our main writing we can choose to read it out or not. I took the plunge and read – I’ve said it before was told by one of my mentors previously do something that scares you at least once a week and well I went for it reading my own words aloud in front of a group of strangers (and Jools) but this wasn’t like being a lecturer that’s a bit more “scripted” I guess. This was just me reading my brain dump to them and that was scary BUT I did it and they were a lovely bunch. Its such a great atmosphere to build each other up as well that for the first time in a long time I left feeling oh maybe I can write a bit – OK we aren’t talking Shakespeare here lol but I can actually get some thoughts down on paper and make it flow a bit.

Without further ado then I present my “Well lets begin” story enjoy 😊

Well lets begin I bought a new notebook for this because despite my collection something new calls for a nice new notebook to write things down in. I want to be able to get my thoughts onto paper rather than having them stuck in my head constantly. Writing has always been a task for me but because its not for anything other than myself I want to give it a go and see where I end up. I already feel the ADHD taking over, thoughts and thoughts jumping around as I started writing about one event and then changed my mind because another idea popped into my head. Maybe thought it’s a distraction from what I was writing about I am very good at procrastinating, Now I have a song stuck in my head about changing my mind (yes Keith A Local Static’s – Changed my mind is now swirling around as I’ve just re read that sentence again. I’m also narrating what I’m writing as I write so the song stops my internal chatting for a bit. However, that the actual quiet we have while writing is really nice and I cant get over how much I have writing down so far. It is not something I’m used to especially as its just thoughts flowing onto the page guess you could say pouring out like gravy (might be a bit lumpy but gravy none the less) Getting the ADHD diagnosis last year really helped me make a lot of sense of my life so that was definitely an ah right lets begin kind of moment in that I could now get some help and strategies with things I struggled with. Organisation and procrastination are my nemesis but that’s just one bit of it. I can organise events, other people etc just not myself!! I know right its very strange, but I’ve been working on that for a while now to try be a bit more organised.

OK my brain has now gone for a wee wander there so doodle time on my page at the top I like to doodle triangles or shapes that I can split into triangles
